IPL-Photofacial treatment
Red and brown discolourations in the skin are caused by vasodilatation, burst red blood vessels or accumulations of pigment in the skin. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), is an effective method to reduce redness and pigmentation spots and even out the skin. The treatment can be performed on the face and body.
The Treatment
With all laser and light treatments, you get special glasses to protect the eyes. The skin therapist then applies a layer of gel to the area to be treated and places the treatment head on the skin. Then all redness or pigment spots are exposed one by one. The heat that you feel when the pulse is set is gone within a fraction of a second. Afterwards, the skin may feel a little burning. The skin therapist cools and cares for the skin and, if you wish, applies a layer of camouflage cream. The skin may be redder and slightly swollen after the treatment. This is a normal and desired reaction. In the days after the treatment, the vessels and pigment spots may temporarily become more visible. This is a good sign and shows that the skin unevenness is well absorbed by the light. If you want, you can camouflage the skin yourself. Depending on the indication, the treated area and the skin's ability to recover, it can take a few days to two weeks for the skin to recover.
The treatment can be performed on the face and body
Aftercare
- After the treatment, avoid strong skin circulation. In order to obtain an optimal effect from the treatment, we strongly advise you not to exercise actively or make heavy efforts, consume alcohol, go to the sauna, exfoliate, steam or massage the skin in the first five days after the treatment.
- Swelling under the eyes can partly be prevented by putting an extra pillow under your head at night or by raising the head end of the bed. Gravity can then do its work
- During the treatment period, stay out of the sun for at least three weeks after the last treatment with the treated area. If you cannot avoid the sun, use sunscreen regularly with a factor 30 or higher.

- How many Photofacial treatments is it necessary to see a good result?
-
For a visible result, an average of 3 treatments are needed with an interval of 4 to 6 weeks. Sometimes additional treatments are needed if, for example, there is a lot of rosacea. It is also advised to have a maintenance treatment every year to maintain a fresh, even and radiant skin.
- Is the skin reaction after an IPL-Photofacial treatment intense?
-
The skin reaction varies per person if there is a lot of rosacea then you often see swelling for several days. If many pigment spots are present, they will become darker for a number of days and therefore temporarily more visible. Take into account 1 week of downtime after treatment.
